School Sharpener Program

School Sharpener Program: The School Sharpener program provides a safe place for youth to come and relax with other youth and with adults, receive help with homework and tutoring; and be able to do research using the internet, engage in recreation, Character-building and fun enrichment activities. Our program will run Monday through Thursday 2:45 to 6:00 pm.

1. Homework/Tutoring Station

Youth will receive homework assistance from qualified teachers and skilled retired business/technical persons. If a student needs special assistance or one on one training on a specific area, tutors will also be provided.

2. Computer Lab Station

An up to date computer lab with 15 Internet ready computers will be available for students who need to do research for school. This computer lab will also be equipped with printers so that students can even write up their reports if they need to. Technical supervision will be provided both for assistance and Internet security for the students.

3. Game Station

Kids love games, especially video games. We will have a station where kids can have access to play stations areas along with several games. Not only will they have access to video games, but kids can also play a variety of table games, such as chess, battleship, twister,etc... In addition to the indoor games, basketball, soccer, volleyball and other organized games will be
available outside in our church campus.

4. Specialty Class

There will be an area designated for quite study and/or specialty classes. Such as painting, art, music and dance. Students will be given a schedule as to when these classes will take place.

5. Snack Station

Delicious and nutritious snacks will be provided for the students that they themselves will learn how to make, with the help of a qualified adult. We want to promote healthy food choices to our students and help them to become independent in this area.
